Moments Remembered has an interesting and becomes scattered after a few pages. The writers fiction is obvious and becomes obscure and confusing. The workshop in Oxford England THE ART OF LYING may have contributed to this style and content of writing. Maybe the the next book will be better. NOT RECOMMENDED
Charming anthology of times past and people remembered, along with stories of life and love and the human condition.
Fans of Pat Tyler, rejoice! I'm only about 30 pages into this book and I've already laughed and cried enough to know this collection of childhood memories is going to keep me reaching for the tissues. New to Pat Tyler's writing? This is a wonderful introduction. Anyone interested in rural California life during the 1940s will love these stories!
After the first 100 pages, I returned it to the bookcase. Slow reading.
As if she had gathered a cornucopia of produce from her lush garden, Pat Tyler scatters laughter, tears and wisdom
through out MOMENTS REMEMBERED, so we might taste its bounty by random selection. It is a movable feast.,rich
in stories,poems and essays. Each to be savored. Each in its own way, a teachable moment
as to patience,recovery from grief, forgiveness, and perhaps best of all;laughter as the best medicine. Once satiated, she suggests on the back cover, that we create
our own bounty of memories. It is a delight and an inspiration.
These stories charmed me. Pat Tyler has an easy, humorous, honest, engaging writing style and I loved the variety here. Her stories, set in rural Northern California as it was in the 1950s, are slices of life that we can all identify with - the ups, the downs, the humor, the warmth, the love and the occasional sadness of growing up and raising children. When I finished I felt like a member of her family which seemed like a pretty darned nice place to be.
